The sad truth is, nobody really cares. They don't give as much attention when you are feeling unusually low or sad. They don’t pay much attention when you just stay all day long in your room, thinking of dark thoughts. They don't notice your unusual disappearances. They don’t mind that you are more silent than the usual, or that you’re out of focus, or that your mind is somewhere wandering far, far away. You start to eat less. You start to sleep less. You start to talk less. You stay in bed more than ever, whether you’re sleeping for days or you’re awake for days. You often sleep in tears and wake up with your tear-stained pillow. You avoid people, even the ones you usually talk to on a daily basis. You fake a smile with people around you and pretend that everything is fine. You contemplate death, uttering it here and there, and everybody thinks that you’re just kidding.

The indications are all there for anyone who's willing to notice. And yet, nothing. Maybe I just need someone who truly cares not because out of a mere curiosity.
